Cooperative game theory deals with situations where objectives of participants of the game are partially cooperative and partially conflicting. It is in the interest of participants to cooperate in the sense of making binding agreements to achieve the maximum possible benefit. When it comes to distribution of benefit/payoffs, participants have conflicting interests. Such situations are usually modelled as cooperative games. While the book mainly discusses transferable utility games, there is also a brief analysis of non-transferable utility games. Alternative solution concepts to cooperative game theoretic problems are presented in chapters 1-9 and the next four chapters present issues related to computations of solutions discussed in the earlier chapters. The proofs of all results presented in the book are quite explicit. Additionally the mathematical techniques employed in demonstrating the results will be helpful to those who wish to learn application of mathematics for solving problems in game theory.

Rohith Potti & Pooja Bhula
Uncertainty is characteristic of the world we live in. Economies rise and fall, bubbles form and burst, policies change and evolve. The ever-changing business climate gets mirrored in sentiments of participants in the business ecosystem — swinging between panic and euphoria. Yet during every downturn, we see Intelligent Fanatics emerge. The world’s best business builders, they are antifragile — they don’t merely survive bad times, but strengthen themselves under stress. Intelligent Fanatics of India studies seven such carefully chosen entrepreneurs from the country. Hailing from diverse backgrounds and industries, the list ranges from private to public companies, first generation visionaries to tycoons of established family businesses, as well as turnarounds. The common thread? A pattern of intelligent fanaticism that has allowed them to build businesses that dominate and endure. The book attempts to decode this pattern based on the framework developed in our previous two volumes. While the stories are Indian, the insights can be applied in any part of the world. Whether you are an investor, business owner, aspiring entrepreneur, or interested in biographies of business leaders, this book is for you.
One of the major topics in macroeconomic theory is the coordination mechanism through which a large number of agents exchange goods in decentralized economies. The mainstream theory of efficient markets fails to provide an internal coherent framework and rules out, by construction, the interaction among heterogeneous agents. A rigorous micro-foundation for macro models can overcome this limitation and provide more reliable policy prescriptions. This book develops an innovative approach to the analysis of agent based models. Interaction between heterogeneous agents is analysis of modelled by means of stochastic dynamic aggregation techniques, based on the master equation approach.
This book offers a systematic and integrated treatment of original concepts and tools, together with application, for creating an alternative micro-foundation framework for a widespread adoption among the profession and by graduate students. In order to make the material accessible to graduate students, every non-standard mathematical tool or concept is introduced with a suitable level of detail. All the logical passages and calculations are explicit in order to provide a self-contained treatment that does not require prior knowledge of the technical literature.
